Nine’s patented BreakThru™ technology features a proprietary high-strength glass material built to withstand downhole conditions up to 10,000 psi (68.9MPa) differential pressure. An intervention-actuated ISO-certified well barrier, this tool effectively isolates wellbore reservoir pressure at a lower cost.

Run on the bottom of the tubing and/or below a packer BHA, the BreakThru™ Barrier Valve isolates the tubing and acts as a barrier to set hydraulic packers. Once the packer is set the completion can be tested against it. The basic glass disc can then be knocked out with coil tubing, slickline, or drop bar, allowing the wellbore fluids to be produced up the full ID of the production tubing without restrictions.

BreakThru™ Pump Open Barrier Valve

Achieve full-bore ID at TD from the surface

With this bi-directional plug, operators can cost-effectively set their production packer and test tubing. Designed according to ISO 14310V0 and ISO 14998V0 specifications, the BreakThru Pump Open Barrier Valve from Nine Energy Service is run in-hole as part of the tubing string in a closed position.

Once it reaches TD, the plug can be opened remotely from the surface by applying pressure to a preset differential, set in 500 psi increments. Once differential pressure is achieved, the glass barrier shatters into fine sand-like particles, leaving a full-bore ID.

BreakThru™ Single-Cycle Barrier Valve

Nine’s pressure-actuated BreakThru™ Single-Cycle Barrier Valve performs reliably in all harsh environments.

Nine’s patented BreakThru™ Single-Cycle Barrier Valve features a proprietary high-strength glass material built to withstand downhole conditions up to 10,000 psi (68.9MPa) differential pressure. This interventionless, pressure-actuated, ISO-certified well barrier cost-effectively isolates wellbore reservoir pressure.

Unlike the BreakThru™ Pump Open Barrier Valve, which requires applied differential pressure to activate, the Single-Cycle Barrier Valve is activated when a preset pressure is applied. The opening of the Single-Cycle Barrier Valve is completely independent of the differential pressure below. This gives the operator full flexibility to set hydraulic packers, inflow test DHSV, and test the tubing and packer from above, along with any other required tests. The opening system is protected, ensuring proper function in all harsh environments. Once all preset pressure is surpassed, the valve activates, allowing wellbore fluids to be produced up the full ID of the production tubing without restriction.

BreakThru™ Multi-Cycle Barrier Valve

Nine’s premium ISO V0-certified well barrier offers full flexibility with up to 12 pressure cycles.

Nine’s patented BreakThru™ Multi-Cycle Barrier Valve features a proprietary high-strength glass material built to withstand downhole conditions up to 10,000 psi (68.9MPa) differential pressure. This interventionless, pressure-actuated, ISO-certified well barrier cost-effectively isolates wellbore reservoir pressure.

Unlike the BreakThru™ Single-Cycle Barrier Valve, the Multi-Cycle Barrier Valve allows up to 15 pressure cycles before activating/opening. This gives the operator greater flexibility to set hydraulic packers, inflow test DHSV, and test the tubing and packer from above, along with any other required tests. The integrated counter system registers the pressure cycles and self-calibrates, ensuring proper function in all harsh environments. Once all preset pressure cycles are set, the valve activates, allowing wellbore fluids to be produced up the full ID of the production tubing without restriction.
